Well Dudes, we finally got it done! Our Winter Handicap became the Spring Handicap and 30 of Lowlands finest assaulted the Course at West Herts.
The first group out set a blistering pace and leading at the turn was Mike Askew. However, despite continuing his good form Mike was piped at the post by Mustafa Walji who also finished on 36pts but was declared the winner on countback of second nine holes.
This was all the more a creditable performance by Mike as he had cut his own handicap prior to the off.
Chris Cox was in confident mood after his tee shot at the 9th finished a mere 8ft from the pin. Astonishingly, this turned out to be 4th best with a succession of shots landing closer, culminating in Steve Browne's wonderful strike to within 9ins.
Chris' disappointment was short-lived as his monster drive on the 13th was never bettered all day.
Nick Marshall was our best guest with an excellent 41pts and Alan Piper had the consolation of the Rabbits Prize.
Our thanks go to all the officials and staff at West Herts who made us wonderfully welcome on the day and, as requested, I have forwarded a note of thanks to them.
Our next Society Day has been arranged for the 4th July when the venue will be Bushey Hall, details to follow nearer this date.
My thanks to all.
